The ride is a beautiful one that takes you over high mountains and through beautiful Andean scenery.
You will start the Lares to Machu Picchu tour by swimming in the best hots springs in the Cusco area, the Lares Peru Hot Springs. The Valley of Lares is home to traditional weavers and farmers. Textiles made in Lares are famous all over Peru and South America. The natives from this zone speak both Quechua and Spanish. They might even help you weave your own pair of gloves or a scarf.
The Lares Machu Picchu trek is slightly shorter and higher than the classic Inca Trail Trek, but it is a wonderful adventure . The Lares route to Machu Picchu is easily accessible from Cusco. Because this Lares hike is not as well-known as the classic Inca Trail, it is much more peaceful.

In addition, we will have a delicious breakfast accompanied by the other members of our group. If you want to, you can return to the hot springs after breakfast.
After thoroughly enjoying this fantastic spot, we will take a short hike to meet up with our team members. Then we will hike uphill for two hours until we arrive at the village of Quishuarany. That is where we will have lunch in the open air. After a short break the villagers will teach us about their traditions and customs. Many of these have to do with raising llamas and alpacas.
We will have the afternoon free to explore this timeless village. The locals will be happy to include you as they participate in their traditional routines. They often speak the original language of the Incas, Quechua. Finally in the evening, dinner will be prepared by our chef. If the weather permits, we will gaze at the brilliant constellations high above in the dark blue Andean sky.
Since you will be surrounded by blue lakes and high mountains, when you awake you will notice how peaceful it is up here in the Quishuarany Valley. After breakfast we will head up to the pass. We will walk through age-old villages along the way. The Andes are dotted with many picturesque little communities. The flora and fauna on the trail will be of great interest. When we reach the Condor Pass we will be able to appreciate the view over the Sacred Valley, Mt. Pitusiray, and the whole Vilcanota Mountain Range.
Next we will descend at an easy pace to the place where our chef will have a delicious lunch waiting for us. After lunch we will hike down a gentle slope for about 3 hours. On the way we can appreciate the llamas and alpacas pastured on the Andean hillsides under the watchful eye of their shepherds.
Finally, when we arrive at Cancha Cancha our team will have camp set up. We can have a well-deserved rest, and we can wander around this colorful little village. The folks will be happy to share their free time with us. They will inform us all about their living traditions, tell us stories, and let us know all about their history. Then can all speak Quechua, the ancient language of the Incas. After a great dinner we can hang out with the kids of the village and learn a few words in Quechua.
You will be served a nice hot drink by our team members when you wake up in the morning. Then you´ll have a healthy breakfast in the fresh, high-mountain air.
