Day 1:Cusco - Soraypampa - Salkantay Pampa - Wayracmachay

Bright and early in the morning, we will pick you up at your hotel and set out in our Private Mercedes van to the district of Mollepata. Then we will continue on to Soraypampa where we will eat a good breakfast. Our guide will give us a briefing and we will be introduced to all of our team members before we head out on the trail. The beautiful town of Soraypampa is the starting point for our trek to Machu Picchu. We will head uphill for 3 hours until we reach an overlook with an incredible view where we can have lunch.

From there it is an uphill hike again until we reach the highest place on our journey, the pass at 4650 masl. We will take a break here, so you can appreciate the high mountains all around you. The majestic Apu Salkantay will tower above you at 6290 masl. You will see multi-colored lakes off in the distance that have been formed by the melt water of the Salkantay glacier. Soon we will walk down in the of our first camp which will be located at Wayracmachay (3800 masl.). Our team will have our camp set up for us when we arrive. Finally we can enjoy our well-deserved rest, eat a great dinner, and have an inter-cultural exchange with the members of our team.

Day 2:Wayracmachay – Chaullay – Playa

We will wake up with the first rays of the sun and eat a nutritious breakfast. Soon after eating, we will head out in the direction of Machu Picchu, one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. On this 2nd day of the trek, we will leave behind the cold high country and descend into the exuberant warmth of the fertile valleys of La Convencion.

During the descent toward our next camp at Chaullay, we will see some beautiful sights as we pass by roaring waterfalls, cross over rivers of crystal clear water, and hike through the thick tropical jungle. Before dinner at the campsite there will be time to explore the flora and fauna of the area. Around dark our chef will serve a delicious supper. Finally you can get a good night´s sleep in order to recover your energy.

We will walk along this portion of the Trail until we reach Llaqtapata. This site is located between the mountains of Machu Picchu and the Vilcanota Mtn. Range.
