Machu Picchu Day Trip Map

What you should know before taking the TOUR TO MACHU PICCHU 2026 from the city of Cusco or the Sacred Valley of the Incas. At present, Machu Picchu has 3 circuits, which are divided into 10 different routes determined by the entry tickets.

FIRST CIRCUIT

  1. Machu Picchu Mountain; Route 1A: Without a doubt, this is a fabulous route which includes the hike up Machu Picchu Mountain. From that summit, you will have what many consider to be the best panoramic view of the Incan Citadel of Machu Picchu. However, to enjoy this hike you should be in very good physical condition since the round trip takes a little more than 3 hours.
  2. Upper Terrace; Route 1B: Surely, te upper terrace is actually the explanade of the House of the Guardian, from where the classic photo of Machu Picchu, with Huayna Picchu serving as the backdrop, is usually taken. With this ticket, you will only be able to visit this zone or this section of Machu Picchu. That’s why this circuit is considered to be not very strenuous. The view is panoramic, but the tour only lasts about an hour.
  3. Sun Gate or Intipunku; Route 1C: With this entry ticket, you can tour Circuit 1 and the House of the Guardian where you can snap the classic photo. Additionally, you can hike up to the Sun Gate (or Intipunku.) The view of Machu Picchu from this spot is absolutely breathtaking.
  4. Inca Bridge; Route 1D: This entry ticket also allows you to tour the upper terrace and Circuit 1. After that, you’ll be able to visit the original “back door to Machu Picchu”  Incan Bridge which heretofore very few travelers have gotten the chance to see.

SECOND CIRCUIT

  1. Route 2A – Designed Classic: Without a doubt, this entry ticket is the most in-demand ticket. For this reason it sells out months in advance. Above all, it allows you to visit almost 85% of the Incan Citadel of Machu Picchu while also offering you the opportunity to take the classic photo from the upper terrace.
  2. Route 2B – Lower Terrace: In fact, this option is also a very popular ticket, since it allows entry into a large portion of the Citadel. While the only difference between this and Route 2A is that on this route you won’t be able to take the classic photo from the upper terrace.

THIRD CIRCUIT

  1. Huayna Picchu Mountain; Route 3A: Avobe all, this ticket allows you to tour the lower part of Machu Picchu and it also allows you to climb up the incredible Huayna Picchu Mountain. Indubitably, Huayna Picchu is considered the crown jewel of the site. Since, it is the mountain that appears in all of the classic Machu Picchu photos.
  2. Designed Royalty; Route 3B: As the name suggests, this route lets you tour the most treasured sections of Machu Picchu where the palaces of the nobility are located. As a result, you’ll almost feel like a member of the Inca nobility yourself, when you take this route.
  3. Great Cavern; Route 3C: With the Great Cavern ticket, you can access some of the most mysterious and best-preserved areas of Machu Picchu. In summary, you’ll be able to visit the Temple of the Condor, the mirrors made out of reflecting water, the Sacred Stone, the Twelve Niches, and more. Without a doubt, the Citadel of Machu Picchu will always find a way to surprise you.
  4. Huchuy Picchu Mountain; Route 3D: With this ticket you can tour the lower part of Machu Picchu, and Huchuy Picchu Mountain which is the small peak that appears in the classic photos. Finally, this is usually is one of the last tickets to sell out.
